This method can only knit one meter of fabric per hour, but produces a very fine and high quality knit. Due to low production capacity, there are only a few hundred of these machines in operation today. This method, while painstaking, is an integral part of creating unique fabric expressions in our signature BARNS knits.
The fabric is knitted slowly and carefully with air on a 100-year-old "hanging knitting machine" still in existence in Wakayama Prefecture, and its greatest feature is its exquisite tension and comfort that wraps around the body.
