Sumi-dyeing is a rare Japanese dyeing technique that uses traditional sumi ink to create smoky black tones on indigo denim. Made from fine pine soot and natural glue, the ink is ground with water before being applied to the weft yarns.
For its Double Nep denim, Pure Blue Japan selected irregular yarns with a unique nep texture—tiny white flecks and fuzzy cotton knots that create a snowy, three-dimensional appearance. Combined with Pure Blue Japan’s original 16oz weave, this denim offers exceptional texture, depth, and character, while developing beautiful fades with wear over time.
