This is a classic wear house body knitted on an old-fashioned low gauge knitting machine that is said to be "rare than a loop knitting machine". This fabric is knitted with #12 uneven yarn to create a unique shadow, and is called a shadow border, and although it is plain, it has a slight horizontal unevenness.

Following the method of making wool borders at the time, the round body has a panel-like border, which is not printed but woven.
