Description
Slim fit jeans with a straight leg made in organic comfort stretch denim. This right here is special, the comfort stretch version of Nudie's first ever selvage denim from legendary Japanese denim mill Kaihara. The rigid version left Nudie Jeans in awe back in 2001, and thanks to its excellent aging property, it still does to this day. This version is developed to possess the same aging property but with stretch, making it comfortable and appropriate for slim fits. The Dry Original Selvage has a deep indigo warp, unbleached, vintage-inspired ecru weft, tight construction, dry hand, and starchy crispiness. It is pure beauty in its dry state, but the most significant part of the denim is its aging property - how it evolves with wearing. To understand it, let's get a bit technical. The warp is first dyed in a dark sulfur dye and subsequently in indigo. This dyeing technique gives it a deep and muted indigo blue hue that looks utterly beautiful, accompanied by our orange thread. It is also what gives the denim its intriguing nuances as it ages. It is what we call a greencast denim, denim that has a slight greenish-blue hue that becomes more evident with wearing. With years of wear and some washes - as the dark denim turns lighter in tone - the greencast starts to lean towards a redcast - clear blue - hue. Intriguing and mind-boggling! We are very proud to offer Grim Tim Dry Original Selvage - our hats off for Kaihara's denim and indigo artisans, forever. We recommend 6 months of everyday wear before the first wash, if not longer. This way, you will end up with a beautiful pair of worn-in jeans. It sure is a long time; however, it's only a recommendation. As long as you give them love, the result will be great.

It features a flattering fit over the upper body, while the front slit allows for unrestricted movement. Crafted from Nudie Jeans Utility denim with off-white thread and brass metal trims, this dress pays homage to vintage workwear aesthetics from bygone years. Nudie Jeans Utility Denim is denim of the finest chore coats, dungarees, and carpenters' pants from the 1930s, which utilizes fine, high-twist yarns together with a 2/1 Z construction. This denim is made possible thanks to the locals in cities where Nudie Jeans Repair Shops are located. The process is straightforward yet impactful: they remove metal trims, cut and grind the jeans, and transform them back into fiber to create new denim. By doing so, they extend the lifecycle of the cotton they have already used, reducing the need for new virgin organic cotton.

Japan unquestionably produces the finest denim in the world. In fact, we dare to claim that Japan crafts the most exceptional denim. This orange-line selvage from Kurabo Mills in Fukuyama exemplifies the excellence of Japanese denim. Dipped 12 times in pure indigo, meticulously woven on vintage shuttle looms, and weighing 12.5 oz, it may initially appear average. However, this is far from your ordinary denim.
Japanese denim mills are renowned for their remarkable ability to recreate denim from bygone eras. This denim is a faithful reproduction of goldmine-era denim discovered in an abandoned mine on the west coast of the USA, with origins dating back to the late 1800s. True to the standards of its time, the denim possesses a rustic texture characterized by long, irregular yarn slubs and a deep, pure indigo tone. As the denim ages, the slubs contribute to irregular vertical streakiness and a distinctive salt-and-pepper grain. In areas where abrasions occur, the white core of the yarns is revealed, creating a contrasting highlight against the preserved deep indigo tones. What sets this denim apart from its historical counterpart is its incorporation of stretch. Recreating stretch denim from old rustic denim poses a challenge, as it tends to contract and become more compact. However, Kurabo has masterfully crafted this denim on vintage shuttle looms, combining the standards of the past with the innovations of today.
